How can I help you lower your cholesterol & triglycerides?
Cholesterol and Blood Lipids – Essential but in Balance
Cholesterol and blood lipids are essential for the body’s function, but when their levels are high, some can harden and narrow the blood vessels, leading to atherosclerosis, stroke, or heart attacks. About 25% of people over the age of 40 have high cholesterol, and above the age of 55, the numbers rise to 45%.
A comprehensive treatment plan can reduce lipid levels, allow for lowering medication doses, and significantly improve quality of life.
A bit about LDL (“bad”), HDL (“good”), and triglycerides (TG):
-
LDL – carries cholesterol to the tissues and deposits it in artery walls. Healthy ranges: no risk <130 mg/dL; with risk <100; with cardiovascular disease <70.
-
HDL – removes excess cholesterol and returns it to the liver. Men should be above 40 mg/dL, women above 50 mg/dL.
-
TG – fat created from excess carbohydrates (including fruit!) or saturated fat. Normal TG: <150 mg/dL.
About 66% of cholesterol is produced in the liver; the rest comes from food. All play a role in cell membrane structure, hormone production, nervous system health, and more.
There are no early symptoms—only a blood test can detect imbalance. Symptoms appear only when significant blockage exists, such as chest or leg pain.
Risk factors include genetics, a diet high in sugar and fat (including fruits!), obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, smoking, age, and low physical activity.
How is it treated?
Lifestyle changes: a low saturated fat, low sugar diet + aerobic exercise. If these aren’t effective, medication may be considered—such as statins, bile acid sequestrants, fibrates, etc. While effective and convenient, medications can cause side effects such as muscle pain and increased diabetes risk.
How I Can Help You Avoid “This Runs in the Family”
According to Chinese Medicine, high “bad” cholesterol is linked to imbalances in dampness, Qi, and blood flow, often connected to the spleen, liver, kidneys, and stomach.
My approach combines modern medical knowledge and current research with thousands of years of Traditional Chinese Medicine wisdom.
Your treatment will include:
-
Acupuncture: improves liver function in lipid production and regulation, and balances the endocrine and metabolic systems.
-
Medicinal mushrooms: clinically researched formulas targeting lipid reduction.
-
Nutrition as a therapeutic tool, not just advice: diagnosis according to Chinese Medicine and a personalized plan based on body constitution, seasons, and your lifestyle habits. Focus on foods that enhance liver function, improve fatty liver, and support production and clearance of fats, including detoxifying ingredients.
-
Personalized herbal infusions: what I call “healthy water,” with herbs that improve liver function in producing and clearing fats and toxins. For example, Shan Zha (Crataegus pinnatifida) can lower LDL and raise HDL—via a mechanism similar to statins.
This integrated method has already helped hundreds of patients because it’s easy to follow and not just a temporary fix—it’s a sustainable approach that gives you back control over your health.
What Does the Research Say?
Mushrooms – low-calorie, rich in fiber, B vitamins, and antioxidants, and increase satiety. Studies show mushrooms like Shiitake and Agaricus influence gut microbiota, improve the ratio of “good” to “bad” bacteria, and help reduce bad cholesterol and blood lipids.
Green–bitter vegetables – such as lettuce, arugula, beetroot, and radish, increase bile production and support the liver in breaking down fats and toxins. Phytochemicals like sulforaphane, allicin, and betalains help reduce inflammation and blood lipid levels.
I’m here to help you stay healthy and avoid atherosclerosis!
