How can I help you lose weight healthily?

Obesity – A Global Challenge That Can Be Balanced

Obesity is a global epidemic, and in Israel the situation is concerning: about 27% of adults are classified as obese, and another 53% are overweight. Since this is a chronic condition, people with excess weight face an 11-fold higher risk of diabetes, high cholesterol and blood lipids, cardiovascular disease, polycystic ovary syndrome, and even certain types of cancer. Beyond that, obesity negatively affects quality of life and daily functioning.

How do I know if I suffer from obesity?

Diagnosis is based on measurements such as BMI (Body Mass Index), body fat percentage, and waist/hip circumference:

  • Normal weight: 18.5–24.9

  • Overweight: 25–29.9

  • Obesity: 30 and above, with morbid obesity (grade 3) at 40 and above

The higher the BMI, the lower the chances of reaching age 70. While people with normal weight have about an 80% chance of reaching this age, at BMI levels of 35–40 the chance drops to 60%, and life expectancy shortens significantly.

Why do we gain weight?

The reasons are varied and include a combination of:

  1. Imbalance between energy intake and energy expenditure

  2. Sedentary lifestyle and lack of physical activity

  3. Emotional factors – overeating, especially under stress or depression

  4. Environment and eating habits – availability of ultra-processed foods and unhealthy patterns

  5. Metabolic and hormonal factors – hypothyroidism, menopause, certain medications, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome

  6. Genetic factors – family predisposition to obesity

Meet the hunger and satiety hormones:

  • Ghrelin – the “hunger hormone,” secreted from the stomach, signaling the brain to eat. Lack of sleep raises its levels, increasing appetite.

  • Leptin – the “satiety hormone,” secreted after meals. In overweight individuals, “leptin resistance” develops, delaying satiety and leading to overeating.

Recent studies show that acupuncture, quality sleep, and appropriate nutrition all help balance these hormones, supporting natural weight loss.

How is obesity treated?

Since obesity is usually chronic, treatment must be multi-systemic:

  • Dietary and lifestyle changes

  • Regular physical activity

  • Personal guidance to enhance persistence and motivation

  • In some cases – medication (such as Ozempic injections) or surgery

International guidelines now emphasize moderate, gradual weight loss – about 0.5–1 kg per week over several months – rather than “miracle diets” that usually end in rebound weight gain.

How can I help you lose weight naturally?

In Chinese Medicine, obesity is seen as the result of “Dampness” accumulation and blocked Qi and Blood flow, stemming from weakness in the Spleen, Stomach, and Kidneys, and imbalance in the Liver.

My approach combines modern medical knowledge and up-to-date research with thousands of years of traditional Chinese wisdom. In treatment you will receive:

  1. Chinese and Japanese acupuncture – after personal diagnosis, acupuncture helps balance leptin and ghrelin, and also supports emotional health and metabolism.

  2. Personalized medicinal mushrooms – formulas based on clinical research, targeting metabolic balance and weight loss.

  3. Nutrition as therapy, not just advice – individualized assessment and adjustment according to body tendencies, seasons, and lifestyle. Emphasis on foods that boost metabolism and satiety. For example, dark green leafy vegetables contain compounds called thylakoids (found in kale and spinach) that raise GLP-1 – the satiety hormone that works similarly to the weight-loss drug Ozempic, but without side effects.

  4. Personalized herbal infusions – what I call “healthy waters,” including herbs proven by research to support metabolic balance and/or clear phlegm and dampness.

This combination has already worked for hundreds of patients because it is practical, sustainable, and not a temporary fix. It gives you back control over your health and weight – for the long term.

I am here to help you live healthy, once and for all.
